The action is very low, and that bored the hell out of me.

It took almost the whole first and second act until the movie really began, and there are some “I predicted it sequences”. I would love to say it’s a well-written film, but unfortunately it’s not. There’s also much famous and great actors like David Hewlett, who I’m a big fan of. Well enough with the critical aspects, I actually gave this movie a 7, which means it’s a good movie! I really like the main story, and the movie do raise many ethical questions on what’s right and what’s wrong. That’s mostly what the movie is about, and I was dumb to expect much action, but there’s not much except for the ending. Rise of The Planet of The Apes, just reed the title and you know it’s about apes and their rise for dominance. Reboot after reboot, Hollywood is indeed out of ideas. I guess the new one could be seen as a 'true' prequel to 'planet' as it shows us how we got to the events without a paradox.

What was sad was the decreasing budget as the series went on - certainly 'conquest ' and 'battle' had poorer makeup than even the original- to be fair I thought the lead apes makeup was very good - it's only in the crowd ape scenes you see they skimped on everyone else- Zera and Cornelius conveyed an awful lot of emotion even through the latex. Conquest could have been alot better but the ideas are definitely there - battle is very hammy but takes it to it's logical conclusion at the slightly averted timeline so we shouldn't get the events of 'planet of the apes' - it could have been alot better but was done on such a small budget that the 'epic' battles look pathetic. Seeing Cornelius and Zera change from celebrities into feared and persecuted risks to humanity was brilliant.

The apes saga is very clever as it's given itself a free pass for sequels and prequels - The original planet of the apes is sequeled by 'return' which although a bit hammy (bar the cool abrupt end) gives us the setup for the absolutely superb 'escape from the planet of the apes' IMO actually the strongest, most brutal and striking of the original films. Planet Of The Apes and this was a worthy edition to the original legacy. Nice that Caesar was a tip of the hat to Roddy McDowell, more so than Charlton Heston, he's Mr. The apes saga is very clever as it's given itself a free pass for sequels and Didn't excpect it to be this good. The fate of Will Rodman, then, has never been revealed explicitly, but considering Dawn of the Planet of the Apes takes place in a world in which the majority of the human population has died, and Rodman never appears but his abandoned house is seen, it’s reasonable to conclude that he was probably killed by the virus off screen.Didn't excpect it to be this good. This was ultimately not used, but it still indicates that the producers had the idea of killing off Will Rodman on their mind. According to CinemaBlend, in an earlier version of the movie, Will Rodman died in the end battle between the apes and the military. One other piece of evidence that Will Rodman might be dead is that he originally died on screen in Rise of the Planet of the Apes. When Malcolm (Jason Clarke) asks Caesar who this person is, Caesar simply says that he was a good man. Dawn picks up ten years after a virus has wiped out much of the human population on Earth, and only those who were genetically immune to the Simian Flu have survived.Īlso in that movie, there’s a scene where the characters go to Will Rodman’s house from Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The house has been completely abandoned, but Caesar looks at a photo of himself with Rodman, in addition to some video footage of Rodman from over a decade prior. In Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, it is implied that James Franco’s character Will Rodman died off screen. So what happened to James Franco’s character from that movie? Why wasn’t he in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and why won’t he be in War for the Planet of the Apes? This new string of films got started with Rise of the Planet of the Apes in 2011, a movie which starred James Franco as the main human character.
